Civic Reflection Workshop Offered at American Library Association Annual Conference

Jul 11 2012

This June, at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Anaheim, California, the Center for Civic Reflection was invited to present a 1.5-day preconference session titled "Civic Reflection Builds Community Connections: A Program Model for Libraries." About 30 librarians and library staff from across North America attended this workshop and gained hands-on experience in facilitating discussions.

The session was targeted at library directors, department heads, and senior staff from public, academic, and special libraries. This hands-on workshop trained participants in dialogue facilitation skills, which have proven successful in helping libraries to strengthen partnerships with civic and community groups, build effective teams across departments and branches, and raise the profile of the library as a hub for community life.
